Author Bob LaRue is a native and lifelong resident of St. Lawrence
County. Born in Potsdam in 1955, he attended Potsdam and
Parishville-Hopkinton Central Schools and the State University College
at Potsdam. In May 1983, LaRue turned his first book project into a daily radio vignette program which has been a popular morning feature for many years. In 1996, the first edition of the St. Lawrence County Almanac was published and was very well received. Volume 2 was published in November 1997. Following the devastating January 1998 ice storm across northern New York, LaRue compiled dozens of recollections and nearly thirty photos for his third book, the 1998 Ice Storm Almanac. Third and fourth volumes of St. Lawrence County Almanac, published in 1999 and 2000, each contain nearly 500 photographs. Following St. Lawrence County's 200th birthday celebrations in 2002, LaRue published his sixth book entitled, Bicentennial, a keepsake commemorative edition on the events and celebrations in 2002. Also in 2002, Mr. LaRue also acquired ownership of CommunitySights.com, a North Country based website design, development and hosting company with offices in Potsdam, NY.
